For months I’ve been struggling with a question. While I may not have been blogging, it’s been constantly on my mind. With what, you might ask? Well, I want my blog to be full of wonderful photography tutorials. I want to have a newsletter that will teach the basics in a step-by-step fashion. I think about how I want to do it. I rewrite posts in my head. But then I think of the pictures that I have to take in order to illustrate my point and I wonder: Do I bribe my children? Do I hire the neighbor’s kids? Do I sneak it into a professional shoot? And finally, yesterday, I realized that I don’t need an actual living body in order to take example photos.
This morning, I brought home our new baby from… the toy store. She actually cries, crawls, giggles and says, ‘Mama,’ but only with one sound for each. It’s super annoying. On the plus side, she has an off switch, sleeps through the night and stays just where I put her (unless she is kidnapped by another person in the house). I call her “Jane” and I love her. She even has posable arms, legs and head. And Jane is going to help me teach you about photography.

Well, as long as she’s not held hostage by a toddler who apparently thinks that plastic bags make great blankets.
